Functional Skills Company Nominated for Award

Jonathan Wells, Managing Director of Guroo Ltd was last night short-listed as “Entrepreneur of the Year” in the 2008 Portfolio Business Awards.
Guroo Ltd was singled out as a fast-growing, successful company dedicated to supporting teaching and learning of functional skills from its base in NE England. The company recently secured significant investment in a deal led by NorthStar Equity Investors to expand its content development, sales and support activities as functional skills grow in importance to schools, colleges, training providers and employers.
Alex Buchan, investment manager at NSEI, said: “Guroo has found a gap in the education technology market and has astutely responded to it. We are confident that the company will be very successful. They have some fantastic ideas, backed up with in-depth knowledge of their target markets.”
