Ofqual paying with eqivalences?

Now here’s a thing about how many GCSE passes a Diploma is worth.
Ofqual now can decide instead of the Government - a change driven no doubt by some previous vocational qualifications getting higher status than they appear to deserve (vocational ICT courses are most picked on here).
It looks like the Govenrmernt wants 8.5 GCSE pases for a higher, an increase from the original 6 suggested by the Government, although it supposedly takes just 2 days a week to teach. This excludes the functional skills of course which should take up another half a day.
